Since 1950, FAW gave more importance to nutrition education as a strategy which a major role to play in achieving improvements in nutrition and to alleviate malnutrition well as enable the general public to make the best possible use of their food.
In effect, FAO regional office for the near east (RNE) organized two inter-country workshops on nutrition education and customer awareness: the first in October 1996 for Arab speaking countries and the second in 1997 for the non-Arab speaking countries. RNE also issued three publications on nutrition education in Arab countries.
