The Manama Declaration Towards Promoting Food Safety and Hygiene In Arab Countries

Food borne diseases create a great challenge to Arab Countries due to their immense health, social and economic impacts. There is, therefore, an urgent need to promote food control systems in these countries in
order to protect the health and safety of domestic consumers. They are also critical to enabling Arab Countries to assure that safety and quality of their foods entering international trade and to ensure that foods conform to national requirements. The new global environment for food trade places considerable obligations on both importing and exporting countries to strengthen their food control systems and to implement and enforce risk-based food control strategies. In order to improve the food control system in Arab countries, it is highly recommended that the governments of these countries consider the following activities:
